International Medical Consultant Co., Ltd. (IMC) accompanies the anniversary of Xam folk

On April 2, at Hao Nam pagoda, Vietnam Music Art Development Center organized the anniversary of Xam Folk singing. IMC Co., Ltd. was honored to be the event sponsor. Many artists and passionate audiences of Xam attended.

XAM singing is not only traditional folk music genre but also was considered as a way to make one’s living. During the hundreds years of existence until late twentieth century – the time when XAM was almost lost, the XAM singers usually chose the 22nd day of the second or eighth lunar month as the music anniversary day. According to the artist Thao Giang – Deputy director of Vietnam Music Art Development Center, Xam singing  was coming into life. Most of the XAM songs are delivered by word-of–mouth (unknown author) and there are some specific XAM tunes are: “XAM cho”, “XAM nha tho”, “XAM thap an”, etc.

This year, in addition to the annual ceremonies,  the commemoration of the artist Ha Thi Cau was also held  with the introduction of her story and contribution to XAM. Then the song of “XAM thap an” was performed by Dinh Cuong – the pupil of Artist Ha Thi Cau.

Prof. Dr. Pham Minh Khang said: “Now Vietnam Music Art Development Center and IMC have made efforts to preserve, maintain and promote the art of XAM Folk singing.”

During the past two years, the Center has also associated with Hue Music Institute to train 16 students in the first course of folk music. After graduating, they will become music researchers in general and folk music researchers in particularly”.

At the anniversary, the representative of IMC also gave scholarship to the students who achieved high results in the recent term.
